Priestess

Sometimes we must learn to live with uncertainty, the priestess said.  Sometimes we must endure the unendurable.  She smiled at me.  Come take a walk, she said.  Let’s walk over there, under those trees.  That pine grove over yonder.  Under those quiet pines, on the hush of the needles.  Let’s make a basket out of them.  Let’s walk to the spongy banks of the creek & watch the salamanders wiggle across the damp.  Let’s phone home, and listen to your mama’s voice.  Go ahead, let us surprise ourselves by crying.

  1. This is interesting. I could see a story developing but some of the speech by the priestess would have to be cut short. Instead of the priestess revealing glories I could see some happening developing. Don’t know what might happen though.

  2. I appreciate your understanding of the emotion in spiritual experience but I found it kind of didactic, if you will. A word I learned in school. Didactic. Teachy, really. Not preachy, but teachy. You know. I’m sure you know the word. Would like to see a story about some happening. There is a story in yoga about a thief being chased by his victims or police or someone and comes upon a sage. The sage wishes to protect him, as I recall, and sends him off, but then the police come and does he tell the police where the thief has gone as he has vowed to truth or does he continue to protect the thief by not telling the police. It is a conundrum.

  4. Which perspective did you write this from?? The priestess, the person she’s talking to or a 3rd party??
